London is unlike anywhere else in the UK for resin flooring, and the differences are practical rather than cosmetic. A large proportion of our London work is in basements, underground garages and lower-ground floors — spaces that sit below the water table and are prone to hydrostatic moisture pushing up through the slab.
This is the single biggest cause of epoxy failure in the capital. A standard epoxy system applied to a damp London basement will blister and delaminate, often within a single season. We treat moisture as a core part of every London survey: calcium carbide or hygrometer testing before quoting, and where readings are high, a moisture-tolerant primer and a surface damp-proof membrane beneath the resin system.
Ventilation is the second London-specific factor. Below-ground garages with little airflow extend cure times and can cause amine blush on the surface. We plan cure windows and use forced ventilation where a project requires it, which is why London installations are scheduled slightly differently from our residential work in the North West.
